Our Anti-Racist Culture
Our school is committed to an anti-racist approach through our curriculum, ongoing professional learning for staff and clear policies. Together, these aim to ensure racism is actively challenged and every student feels safe, respected and valued.
We work alongside organisations such as No Boundaries to support our staffs’ professional learning and deliver student workshops. Within our Federation, we define our anti-racist culture as a proactive approach that challenges all forms of racism, provides support and develops our community to be advocates for change.
Curriculum Overview
Diversity and anti-racism are embedded throughout our curriculum with a focus on developing learners in becoming ethical, aware citizens of Wales and the wider world.
Crew
Our Crew sessions are key to developing our learners racial literacy skills and understanding of the wider world. Our Crew curriculum focuses on celebrating differences, celebrating key cultural dates, anti-racist awareness days and creating a space to discuss how we can be anti-racist at an age appropriate level.
Y1- 6
Our class STEAM projects develop learners’ understanding of diversity and anti-racism through representation, taking inspiration from global problem solving and having a focus on designing inclusive, community linked end goals. Alongside this, each class has a project that will focus on a key theme such as belonging, Cynefin, responsibility and anti-racism.
Early Years
Our early years classes focus on fostering a sense of belonging through representation, celebration and inclusion within each class setting. Children are encouraged to celebrate and embrace similarities and differences through teaching, resources and play.
