Welcome to Rising Stars!
Codi Serennau is an early years provision that opened in September 2021.
We are a registered private childcare and education facility that can cater for a maximum of 50 children at any one time, aged from 2 to 5 years. Codi Serennau offers a variety of sessions and is open Monday to Thursday from 8am until 6pm, and Friday 8am until 5:30pm, term time only.
At Codi Serennau we fully support and promote the new Curriculum in Wales’ four purposes and plan accordingly to your child’s interests, enabling them to become:

Aims and Objectives
At Codi Serennau we provide a safe, caring and stimulating environment for your child. We strive to ensure that your child becomes a happy, ambitious learner. All children in our care are treated with respect and made to feel valued. We provide learning through play opportunities, enabling each child to become a caring, healthy and confident individual.
Moonbeams (2-3 years old)
Moonbeams is a large open area with spotlights that can be dimmed to create a calming space for quiet play and learning for our youngest children. The ratio of staff in Moonbeams is 1:4.
Starlights (3-4 years old)
This large room is adjoining Moonbeams and has access to the bathroom (changing areas) and outdoor area. The ratio of staff in Starlights is 1:8. Children are able to access both areas and the outdoor provision.
Support with Funding
Codi Serennau is registered with the Childcare Offer in Wales with the Welsh Government. This enables working parents/ carers to access up to 30 hours of childcare funded by the Welsh Government for the term after their child’s 3rd birthday (LEA funding & Childcare Offer together). There is a charge for meals (if not provided by yourself or you hold an active account with Torfaen Catering Service) and for any additional session over the 30 hours.
Children who attend the educational sessions at Codi Serennau are eligible for 17.5 hours during term time. Pre-school Children who attend Coed Eva nursery are eligible for additional 12.5 hours. To continue with our commitment of providing high-quality care and development for all our children, from September 2025 we will be incorporating the Flying Start Programme to support our families and community. As Codi Serennau is now registered as a Flying Start setting, we can therefore provide funded places for up to 12.5 hours per week for our two to three-year-olds.
We are also Tax Free Childcare, and the Employee Childcare Voucher Scheme (KiddiVouchers and Sodexo voucher schemes).
